What Is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is commonly known as a "nose job". Many people wish to beautify their facial features and choose to make their nose either bigger or smaller or to change the turn of their nose downward or even to flare or shring their nostrils. Rhinoplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery that is done to change the shape of a person’s nose. A nose job is usually seen as common step by many people today who are very looks conscious and can see no reason to exist with a deformity in the middle of the face when a nose job can easily correct the situation and make the person less self consious.
Although commonly used to change the size or look of a nose, rhinoplasty is also used for medical reasons to help someone who is having upper respiratory breathing problems due to some structural problem in the nose or following a broken nose. To qualify for rhinoplasty, a person should be at least 14 to 15 years old. The nose has to be fully grown and stable before rhinoplasty can be used to change its shape.
When a patient is qualified for rhinoplasty, he should let his surgeon know what he hopes to achieve with his nose job. The patient should also have a clear idea of how he wants to look after rhinoplasty. The surgeon should also explain to the patient of rhinoplasty what he can expect to get from his surgery. Both sides, the patient and the surgeon, should know the others expectations and hopes before going into surgery for rhinoplasty.
